Novint Falcon wins "Good Design Award"

It's really fun to be checking your iGoogle page for news and find people you know being recognized for their good work. (Also nice to see reminders about the importance of design.)

From Gamasutra:

Novint Falcon Given Product Design Award

Novint Technologies has announced that it has received a "Good Design Award" from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design for its Falcon 3D virtual touch and force feedback interface device.

Novint notes that the Museum's Good Design program is "the oldest and most important Awards Program worldwide as it elevates the best and finest new design and design innovation for products and graphics."

Gamasutra has previously featured the Falcon in a in depth podcast interview with Novint president and CEO Tom Anderson.

In August of last year, the company released a free SDK to help developers incorporate the device into new and existing games and applications and expand the content available for the controller.

Subsequently, developer and publisher Merscom said it would be incorporating the device into a number of titles, including The Ship, WWII Tank Commander, Masterpiece Fishing, Buku Dominoes and Jewel Craft.

Said Anderson on the Good Design honor, "We are proud to receive such a prestigious award. The Novint Falcon continues to be recognized by industry leaders as a product that is changing the marketplace."
